Commissions - How to choose the best photo for your portrait
Since one main reference photo will be used to guide your portrait, it’s important to choose an image that truly captures your pet’s character. Here are some tips:
- Natural Light: Take photos in daylight near a window or outdoors — this helps capture detail and true colouring.
- Clear View of the Face: Make sure your pet’s eyes, nose, and expression are sharp and in focus.
- Characteristic Pose: Choose a photo that feels most like them — whether it’s their playful grin, dignified stare, or curious tilt of the head.
- Favourite Place: For portraits with a detailed background, consider a photo taken in their special spot: the armchair they’ve claimed, the garden they love, or their sunny windowsill.
- Beloved Details: A favourite collar, toy, or blanket can add a personal touch and make the portrait even more “them.”
- Send a Few Options: If you have a preference, do let me know which you'd like me to use. If you’re unsure, send several photos. I’ll help you choose the one that works best.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes - we offer multiple payment options, including Klarna, so you can spread the cost of your bespoke portrait in a way that suits you.
Cancellations & Returns
1. Bespoke Orders can be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase by emailing: studio@noirdelights.co.uk
2. If you decide to continue, commissions are non-refundable, and you are committed to your order. As each piece is created by hand and tailored to your request, returns and refunds are not accepted.
3. If you experience any issues with your order, please do get in touch - I'll do my best and will gladly work with you to resolve any concerns.
Shipping & Customs
Do you ship internationally?
Yes - complimentary, fully tracked shipping is included with every custom oil painting. Each piece is carefully packaged by hand and shipped directly from my UK studio.
Shipping to the US
If you are located in the United States, please contact me before placing an order. Since the introduction of the new tariffs, many couriers have suspended shipments to the US, and I will need to confirm available options before proceeding with your order.
Lost or damaged orders
All portraits are shipped insured with full tracking. In the rare event that your parcel is delayed or arrives damaged, please contact me - I’ll gladly assist in resolving the issue with care and attention.
Customs and import taxes - Please note that buyers are responsible for any customs duties or import taxes that may apply. Unfortunately, I cannot take responsibility for delays caused by customs processing.
