Oil Painting FAQ
How long does an oil portrait take?
Oil paintings require time and care, with each layer built slowly for depth and permanence. Most portraits are completed within 10–12 weeks of booking. If you're commissioning for a special occasion, I recommend reaching out early to ensure availability.
Can I request revisions?
Due to the traditional nature of the medium, revisions are not typically possible once painting has begun. However, I work closely with you during the planning stage to ensure alignment on vision, details, and expression before the first brushstroke.
What kind of reference photos do you need?
Please upload 3-7 high-resolution, well-lit images that clearly show your pet’s features.
Close-ups and full-body shots are both welcome - front-facing or three-quarter views taken at eye level work best.
Please make sure that the face and at least upper part of the body are shown clearly.
One main reference photo will be used for the portrait. If you have a preference, do let me know which you'd like me to use.
Cancellations & Returns
Orders can be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase by emailing: studio@noirdelights.co.uk
After 24 hours, you are committed to your order.
As each piece is created by hand and tailored to your request, returns and refunds are not accepted. I do not issue refunds.
If you experience any issues with your order, please do get in touch - I'll do my best and will gladly work with you to resolve any concerns.
Shipping & Customs - Oil Paintings
Do you ship internationally?
Yes - complimentary, fully tracked worldwide shipping is included with every custom oil painting. Each piece is carefully packaged by hand and shipped directly from my UK studio, accompanied by a small keepsake and personal touches.
Lost or damaged orders
All portraits are shipped with full tracking. In the rare event that your parcel is delayed or arrives damaged, please contact me - I’ll gladly assist in resolving the issue with care and attention.
Customs and import taxes - Please note that buyers are responsible for any customs duties or import taxes that may apply. Unfortunately, I cannot take responsibility for delays caused by customs processing.
